The world’s favorite superhero franchise, the Marvel Comic Universe had recently revealed that there were a lot of roles in the films that they had planned for someone else, but eventually, the role went to some other actors and actresses. The original casts had turned down the roles as they were too cool for the world famous MCU. Here are 15 such actors and actresses:

1. Mel Gibson

The MCU has one of everyone’s favorite hero, Thor. The character’s home planet, Asgard was a wonderful and the actor, Mel Gibson was supposed to play the role of Thor’s father, Odin. The actor had unfortunately turned down the role.

2. Jessica Chastain

The Ant-Man is a movie that had gone through a lot of changes during the making of the film. The director had changed to Edgar Wright a well. The actress, Jessica Chastain had been cast for the movie, but she was way more interested in the films like The Martian and Interstellar.

3. Joaquin Phoenix

The movie, Walk the Line, had helped Joaquin Phoenix rise to fame and he was one of the actors who had come under the radar of Marvel studios for playing the role of the character, Doctor Strange. Joaquin Phoenix had eventually turned down the role as Marvel’s films seemed more like products to him than creativity.

The actress had been chosen by Marvel for playing the role of the assassin, Black Widow but she had turned down this role. Marvel then thought she could star as the character, Peggy Carter, in the movie, Captain America: The First Avenger but Emily Hunt had dropped out once again.

The actor, Matthew McConaughey is a very attractive person, and Marvel studios wanted him to star in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The actor had been speculated to play the role of Star-Lord’s father.
