In the past, they were considered to be a niche, less important genre, but, during the last decade or so, the superhero films have become astonishingly popular and successful at the box office. Therefore, it would have been absolutely dumb if the DC Comics didn’t attempt to turn their vast legions of famous superheroes from the comic books into money spinners. They endeavored to create a movie franchise that could take on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, DC lagged behind in the game from the outset, and so far they haven’t been able to get close to the rival. DC has made some major mistakes that have set back their films, and even though they had a big hit in Wonder Woman, they haven’t been able to become the kind of franchise that DCEU should be.

We can point out a lot of things that could have been done differently by the directors working for DC, and those might have made their movies more popular.
