A tattoo is not just the first picture or pattern that comes across that is thoughtlessly placed on the body. For many, this is a kind of statement that explains who we are and what we believe. Tattoo artist Sion Kwak from South Korea tells these stories of identity, faith, tradition, culture and values through delicate tattoos, woven with traditional Korean motifs using threads, knots and tassels.
To some, a tattoo may seem like a simple decoration, but for Sion it is a unique form of self-expression, a way to declare your creativity, values, hobbies and much more. Sion revealed that she spends a lot of time studying the symbols and meanings of the elements that she includes in order to convey the stories of her clients in tattoo design as accurately as possible.
