The movie-making business is no cake-walk. A film’s marketing is as essential as its production quality. A great film might go unnoticed without the right kind of marketing, and an average film might draw crowds to theatres courtesy of great marketing. There are so many tools for movie marketing these days, digital marketing, trailers, product Tie-ins etc. However, the power of a poster is undeniable. Posters adorn the hallways in multiplexes, make your dorm room walls look better, and they are included in every online article or magazine page connected to the upcoming movie. A well-made poster can become legendary, and remain forever connected to the film, just like the Batman poster from 1989 that was repeatedly stolen from bus stations and movie multiplexes.
It is not easy to create a great movie poster. The poster has to do a lot more than most of us would acknowledge. A movie poster has to create the buzz for the film, but, it doesn’t have the advantage that a trailer has. It has to highlight the movie’s cast, showcase what the film’s topic is and give some plot glimpses without revealing much. Added to that is the burden of tackling with the various superhero versions which fans are very particular about.
The comic book readers, understand, love and follow the superhero characters and are not only familiar with them, but, also have a clear idea of how they should be portrayed. Large studios have large teams associated with a project, and they might come up with confused or not so great art. However, the fans are capable of creating a poster, just the way it should be, and often they create amazing fan posters. Take a look at some fan made posters that are even better than the actual.
