Now the new is official, that actor and former wrestler, Dwayne Johnson is the highest paid actor. According to Forbes, he has earned 124 million last year. This is almost double the impressive $65 million that he had brought a year before this. The actor had taken to Instagram for acknowledging this feat.
“I work extremely hard but never anticipated (in my wildest dreams) I’d become the highest paid actor in Forbes’ history. I don’t have a Harvard MBA, but my business philosophy and acumen has been sharpened over time and thru failure. My goal when I was wrestling in flea markets for $40bucks per match (well before the bright lights of the @wwe) is still the exact same goal I have today, always put my audience first. Forbes was tracking the gross of all the Hollywood actors for almost 20 years. In all this while, no one has earned the way this actor, Dwayne Johnson has. A part of this has to do with the very fact that he is also commanding pretty crazy paydays, like the $20 million guarantee he locked down for Red Notice. He also works a whole lot, and almost all his movies have dominated the box office.
A part of the huge earnings also comes from the actor’s use of social media. Johnson has almost 108 million Instagram followers and 13 million Twitter followers, and he also has 58 million on Facebook. He is super active, and he does a whole lot to help in promoting his films with the social media platforms. The actor is now requesting a separate paycheck for promoting his films on social media. This is what he had to say:
“Social media has become the most critical element of marketing a movie for me. I have established social media equity with an audience around the world that there’s a value in what I’m delivering to them.”
Johnson had arrived in Tampa, Florida in the year, 1995 after he was cut from the Canadian Football League just with just $7 with him. Now, he is the most financially successful actor, and he has named his very own production company, Seven Bucks Productions.
Things are not really showing signs of slowing down for this actor. Dwayne Johnson has the Disney’s The Jungle Cruise which is filming now and the Fast and Furious spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw is set to follow. He just got his Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel to succeed massively at the box office.
