Liz Truss says she won’t ‘give in’ to Labour call for windfall tax

Liz Truss said she would not “give in” to Labour’s call for a windfall tax on oil and gas giants. “We will not be giving in to the leader of the opposition who calls for this to be funded by a windfall tax. That will discourage the very investment we need,” the new PM said. Ms Truss promised support for businesses struggling with bills for six months, with targeted support for vulnerable firms beyond that, with the chancellor carrying out a review within three months on what kind of help might be needed.
