Lucas Foglia traveled to the American West in the most unpopulated regions of the United States. Here he expected to see cowboys on horseback and the beauty of the Wild West, but it turned out that most of the inhabitants work in the mines. The American West remains one of the largest gold producers in the world. Companies are constantly digging new mines to find smaller deposits, leaving holes where mountains once were. When the mine closes, people are forced to move on across the country in search of new places to live and work.
